Unveiling the Beauty of Liquid Metal: Maintenance and Protective Coating Options

Liquid metal surfaces offer a unique aesthetic and exceptional durability, but understanding their maintenance and protection is crucial for maintaining their beauty. This guide explores various options and their advantages and disadvantages to help you make an informed decision.

  • Natural metal finish:

Leaving the surface of liquid metal natural allows the metal itself to live, to age naturally, developing patina over time. This naturalness appeals to those who appreciate the natural evolution of metal over time. This approach exposes the surface to potential oxidation and scratches. Therefore, extra care should be taken when cleaning, using a microfiber cloth dampened with water and drying thoroughly with a microfiber cloth or hot air.

  • Protective wax finish

Wax is a popular choice for boiserie, ceilings, and sculptures to preserve the natural appearance of liquid metal while providing light surface protection. Recommended only for indoor applications given its mild protective power. Even with the wax protectant, we recommend cleaning with a microfiber cloth dampened with water, properly dried with microfiber or hot air.

  • Two-component clear topcoat

All of our clear topcoats are used in the automotive industry, while offering high levels of quality and durability, they can alter the appearance of the finish depending on the type of topcoat (matte or gloss).

They make it possible to protect items even in outdoor environments, offer the possibility of less careful cleaning, and keep our products unaltered over the long term.

General cleaning recommendations:

For all liquid metal surfaces, we recommend using a mixture of water and alcohol for cleaning.

Avoid aggressive solutions containing abrasive particles because they can damage the surface.
